About Zeynep Yalcin Parks

For Ford Motor Company in the UK, she led design and delivery of air induction systems for the Focus, Mondeo and Ka models in European, American and Indian markets. She co-ordinated with purchasing, finance, cost-estimating and programme teams to ensure programme objectives for KPIs and quality were on target. In a different role she worked on the powertrain integration of the award-winning Transit van. Her work at Ford saw her manage multiple suppliers, teams of CAD designers and engineering teams on delivery of worldwide programmes. During this period, as in most of her work, she worked in cross-functional teams, operating internationally in multi-cultural environments.

 

At Ford Otosan in Turkey she worked in product development and in programme management. She undertook feasibility studies, identification of programme content, allocation of resources, preparation of timing scenarios and roadmap plans. In addition to her engineering and management roles, she coached and mentored Lean Six Sigma teams on various engineering projects as black belt. She reviewed and analysed data and led team members in implementing new solutions in order to reduce waste and variation. 

 

She received her BSc. degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering with the third-highest grade point average upon graduation. She studied Mechanical Engineering as a minor degree in parallel to her BSc. She received two MSc. degrees, with full scholarship, in Management and also in Materials Science and Engineering. 

 

In addition to academic studies and research, Zeynep carried out an industrial project in cooperation with, and at the premises of, the industrial partner who awarded her scholarship. In her project she produced an antibacterial additive that can be incorporated into the glaze and body recipe of ground and wall tiles, without changing their surface properties and colour, established an antibacterial testing system and planned adaptation of this additive to the existing manufacturing cycle.

 

In recent years she has worked with information technology companies in order to expand her knowledge in technology, innovation and agile ways of work. She trained and became a practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and uses the methodology in a professional way to help her clients. Lately she has been consulting international manufacturers on operational & design improvements, opening to the new markets and agile ways of work.

On a voluntary basis, she has also been using her coaching & mentoring skills and experience to inspire individuals to take steps towards doing what they want to do and being what they are ready to be.

Zeynep founded Derin Consulting in 2010 in the UK, to deliver operational improvement across a wide range of sectors and client situations. She has a special interest in the application of different methodologies and solutions in product design & engineering, in operational improvement and the ability to articulate the differences in approaches, tools, responsibilities and deliverables.
